I Got a Haircut!

Every once in a while I get a haircut. Yesterday morning I got a haircut for the summer! Do you know what I don't like about haircuts? I get shaved naked! Well, not quite, but almost. And now I look really funny, and it's embarrassing. I easily get dreadlocks, so that's why I get my haircut so short because my dreadlocks go down to the skin almost. But, at least this haircut will be nice for the summer!

Okay, ready for pictures? You're probably not going to recognize me...

I'm glad my fur grows fast, because that means I won't be naked for very long!

Anyway, enough of the embarrassing stuff... Lets talk about before I got my haircut! Last week we went to the park. Lizzy threw my tennis ball for me, and I chased it over and over again. I love playing fetch! After a while I couldn't play anymore because the tennis ball broke and went all flat and weird... So, then Lizzy threw me into a tree with lots of low branches, and she took pictures of me.

A few days ago Lizzy took me for a walk up to the pond again to meet some people there. Now, can you believe this? One of the guys there thought I was 6 or 8 years old! Now just what was he thinking?! I'm a young dog! I'm only 5! Well, almost 6.... But I'm still not that old! I'm still a happy hyper puppy. Most people think I'm 1 or 2, and are shocked to hear I'm almost 6. But how did that guy know that I was 6?! Well, I just found out. Just before we got to the park, Lizzy and Mom were painting a room. I, of course, wanted to help. So I started sticking my nose into paint buckets and rubbing against paint brushes. I got a white tail, grey paws, yellow on one side of my mouth, and white on the other. Now, the reason that guy thought I was so old is because it looked like the fur around my mouth had turned white! And that's what old dogs look like! But, of course, my mouth isn't really white yet. It was just paint. But, at least I know why that guy thought I was old...

Oh, I just realized I'm not wearing my red bandana right now! I was wearing it the other day, but they took it off when I got my haircut. I wonder where it is? I have to go find it now!

At the Pond

Yesterday evening Lizzy, Mom, Dad, Esther, Joey and I all went up the hill to the pond. Lizzy brought my ball and ball thrower, so I could chase my ball! Guess what Lizzy and Dad did to make me get more exercise? They threw my ball all the way across the pond, so I had to run all the way around the pond to get my ball! It was exhausting! They did it over and over and over again. But me, unlike any other dog, can run forever and never get tired (Ignore the "It was exhausting!" sentence I had just said). You might wonder why I didn't swim across the pond to get my ball. Well, I'll tell you why: I didn't feel like it.

So, I chased my ball over and over and over again. Here's a video of me running around the pond. See how fast I am?

I decided to take a break after a while. Not because I'm tired! But because I didn't want Dad's arm to get tired from throwing the ball. Dad threw the ball, while Lizzy took pictures of me.

Here I am, with my ball.

After some more ball-throwing, we walked back home. I had a good time at the pond.

At Stanley Park

Yesterday my human family and relatives and I all went to Stanley Park! My human Lizzy made Daddy hold me, because she was gonna go see raccoons and squirrels. She told me, "If I let you come along, then you're gonna chase them away! And the raccoons are hungry right now, and that makes them grumpy, so I don't want you to get into a fight with them. So you gotta stay here with Daddy!" I was sad to see Lizzy walk away, but Daddy was still fun to be with. Lizzy came back a little while later, smiling with success at having been able to feed some squirrels and play with raccoons. However, she was bitten by 2 raccoons, but the bites didn't break the skin, so I am glad. Once a raccoon bite did break her skin, but it healed up quickly. Sometimes I feel mad at the raccoons for biting Lizzy, but Lizzy doesn't care and she loves them anyway, so I suppose I shouldn't hate them if Lizzy doesn't.

After Lizzy hung out with her animal buddies, we all went to the playground. I had an awesome time! Lizzy told me to go down the slide and through some tunnels in the playground, and it was fun! Then Lizzy grabbed me and put me into a swing! It was a baby swing! I felt sort of embarrassed to be in a baby swing, but it was actually quite comfortable and I fit in it just right.

Here's some pictures of me in the swing!

After I swung for a little while, I decided to go tree climbing. Lizzy says I look like a mountain goat!

After I goofed around a bit, Lizzy, Mommy, Auntie, Cousin and I went for a walk along the seawall. Lizzy and I walked on the beach, while Mommy and Auntie and Cousin walked above us on the wall. I was walking along on the nice, soft sand, when all of a sudden I heard barking and yipping behind me! I swung around and this big dog was standing over a tiny dachshund. The poor little guy was terrified of the big dog, and he howled for help. His owners came running and picked him up where he would feel safe, but meanwhile his loud crying made me want to run away with fright! And the best place to get away from the dogs is up on top of the sea wall. Now the wall is about 6 1/2 feet high where we were, and that's taller than Lizzy. But it's not too tall. So I ran, and took a real flying leap, grabbed onto the top of the wall with my front paws, and pulled myself up and over. Lizzy, Mommy, Auntie, and Cousin all saw me and were amazed. Some other people walking on the seawall and the beach saw me and were amazed too. They wanted to see it again! So, guess what they did? They threw me back down onto the beach! Well, they didn't exactly throw me, they more like picked me up and gently put me down back on the beach. But I wanted on the wall! So I ran again to the wall, took a flying leap, and climbed over the top. By now there were quite a few people watching. "Do it again, do it again!" some said. So, of course, they put me back onto the beach. Now Lizzy got out her camera, and started taking a video of me. Oh brother. It's just a little jump! What's so exciting about it? Well, by now I was getting tired, and I don't want to be put back down any longer, so I'm gonna stay down! Sorry Lizzy, I know you wanted that on tape, but I'm tired of being put back on the beach over and over again. Maybe next time I'll jump up the 6 1/2 foot seawall again!

Later that day, I was tired. I slept pretty good that night.

The Cats

I decided I should introduce the cats of the family. It would be nice for you to know who I have to live with. Did you know that cats can make great dog toys? My favorite thing to do with them is to sneak up behind them very quietly, and then I bark super loud! It scares them so much!

First, I'll introduce you to Marble. Marble loves wildlife, a lot like my human Lizzy. But, she also loves wildlife a lot differently than Lizzy. Lizzy and Marble both love to be outside where there's lots of grass, dirt, trees, and flowers. They both love to sit very still and watch the wild animals. However, Lizzy watches them with love and respect and cameras, while Marble watches them with thoughts such as, "Where's a good place to pounce on the bird from? What kind of cool moves should I use to catch that squirrel?".

Now, here's Rascal. She's actually Marble's mother. She also likes wildlife the way Marble does. Rascal is the craziest cat of all. I'm sure she's missing a few pieces of her brain. She might look cute...

Do not be mistaken! She's evil. Just look at those claws

And those fangs!

And last, but not least, there's White Cat. White Cat is also known as Fatso, Smudge Pudge, Fat Cat, Kitty Cow, and Beluga. He is lazy. And he's quite fat (as you may have guessed my his nicknames). But, he is the friendliest cat of all. He loves to cuddle and roll in dirt. He's to lazy to bath himself, so Lizzy baths him in the laundry sink. His favorite place to sleep is the middle of the street. He's been sleeping there for nearly 10 years, and has not yet been made into a cat pancake. People have to get out of their cars and pick him and and carry him to the side of the road. White Cat also steals food. He went inside a neighbor's house and stole their dough nut. Our other neighbors have also caught him with his paw in their fishbowl.

On Easter Day we colored him, because he was the perfect shape for an easter egg.

So, now you know what other toys (cats) I live with. I hope you enjoyed reading about them!
